Host your next party or corporate event at Belle Grove

Belle Grove Plantation is a National Historic Landmark located in Middletown, Virginia in the northern Shenandoah Valley.  Its Manor House was built for gracious entertaining and family life by Isaac Hite, Jr. and his wife, Nelly Madison Hite, between 1794 and 1797.

If you are seeking locations for a small dinner reception, shower, rustic barn party, or a fun cocktail party, consider Belle Grove. It is conveniently situated right off Route 11 and Interstate 81, making it easy for all guest to easily access. We can host a range of party size from 20 to 150. The Beverley B. Shoemaker Welcome Center in the renovated 1918 Bank Barn would make a great place to host a party or corporate retreat. The grounds also provide space for any large corporate picnic or event.

All prospective renters are required to visit Belle Grove Plantation for a complete walk-through of the property before signing a rental contract. This will give you an opportunity to see the variety of options and allows Belle Grove staff to explain what is expected of renters. Upon signing a contract, renters are required to again meet with Belle Grove staff along with the approved caterers, florists, rental companies, and other key parties to the event to review policies and procedures relative to the use of Belle Grove Plantation. Frequently Asked Questions

How many people may be accommodated in the Manor House cocktail party or dinner?
We can accommodate up to 40 people seated on the lower level of the Manor House. If you would also like use of the main floor of the Manor House, we can accommodate up to 75 for a standing reception after touring hours.

How many people may be accommodated in the Welcome Center?
The event space in the upper level of the Welcome Center may accommodate up to 150 for a standing reception or seated lecture or up to 120 for a seated meal. Please note that this not space is not climate controlled so it may be only rented late April to mid-October.

How many hours does the rental include?
Rentals time vary and include one to two hours of set up for the event and one hour to clean up. Additional hours may be added for an additional cost. See the price list below.

Are furnishings and equipment included in the rental fee?
Tables and chairs are included with the rental fee. If you wish a different style of tables and chairs, we can arrange this rental for you, but renters will be responsible for the cost. For full property rental, a tent and outdoor furniture are included. Sound system is available for use upon request. Linens, barware and dinnerware are not included.

How do I reserve an event date?
In order to reserve your date Belle Grove Plantation requires $250 non-refundable deposit along with a signed contract.  This deposit goes towards your final price. For date availability please call 540-869-2028 or e-mail info@bellegrove.org.

May we bring outside vendors and caterers?
We welcome you to bring outside caterers and vendors with a valid health permit and they are required for events with more than 50 people. Each space has access to a kitchen for caterers to hold and plate food but cooking and washing facilities are limited. We ask any caterers who have not worked at Belle Grove before visit the site and meet with staff prior to the event. Belle Grove also has a list of providers that know the site well.
