Free Day of Admission for Give Me Liberty Exhibit & Activities
On Saturday, May 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission to Belle Grove is free of charge thanks to a sponsorship from the Winchester-Frederick County Virginia 250 Committee.
On view is Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation traveling exhibit organized in partnership by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture.
The historic Manor House will be open for touring and there will be family friendly activities: quill pen writing, wax seal stamping, activity sheet, period games.
Col. James Wood II Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will have a display and at 11 a.m. will present the colors, have a musket salute and pledge of allegiance. Fort Loudoun Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will also attend.
At 1 p.m. Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park Ranger, Christopher Mattingly will present "For the Cause of Liberty," about how Isaac Hite Jr. of Belle Grove Plantation and his family members and neighbors come to rebel against their King.
